Patch Whiz Kid of the Week: Bridget Rothert

Bridget Rothert:

○ School: Seneca Valley High School

○ Accomplishment: Rothert has led the Screamin' Eagles basketball team with a 22.2 points-per-game average this season, good enough for eighth in the whole DMV.

○ Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness: Being in the top-ten in scoring is impressive enough, but Rothert has done it all as just a junior. With a summer to improve before her senior season, there's no telling what Seneca Valley can expect out of the five-foot-eight guard next year.

In this impressive 2010-2011 campaign, Rothert has already scored 422 points and has topped the 30-point mark four times, including a 34-point outburst against Quince Orchard. Fittingly, Rothert and her SV squad are set to match up with QO this Saturday in the first round of the state playoffs.

Rothert's 11-point season low, which she recorded against Wheaton on Dec. 17, is still higher than any of her teammates' season scoring average.
