Poolesville to Host 'Friday on the Commons' Starting June 12

Weekly Summer Celebrations to Feature Games, Food, Music

The Town of Poolesville will host a “Friday on the Commons” summer-long series of celebrations, featuring everything from games and bounce houses to farmers markets, artisan vendors, movies and music. The series will kick off on June 12 and take place in the Town’s central gathering place, Whalen Commons, located at 19701 Fisher Avenue in Poolesville.

“Friday on the Commons is a great opportunity for friends and family to get together during our warm summer evenings,” said Jim Brown, President of the Poolesville Town Commission. “Residents and visitors alike are welcome to come and appreciate the home-town atmosphere and family fun.”

Each of the get-togethers has a unique summer-fun theme and activities. Dates, times and themes are as follows:

· June 12, 3:30 p.m. - Summer Carnival

· June 19, 6 p.m. - Bark in the Park Dog Contest

· June 26, 6 p.m. - Take Me Out to the Ball Game

· July 10, 6 p.m. - Picnic in the Park

· July 17, 6 p.m. - Hoedown in the Park (Dancing for the Dorseys)

· July 24, 6 p.m. - Homegrown Poolesville

· July 31, 6 p.m. - Wine Down in the Park

· August 14, 6 p.m. - Wet, Wacky and Wild

· August 28, 3:30 p.m. - Back To School Carnival

Each event will include a diverse farmers market with locally grown produce, fruits, cheese, meats and fresh baked goods. There will also be local vendors featuring food, arts and crafts.
