Racial Equity And Social Justice Discussion Held June 26
Montgomery County leaders will host a Community Conversation on Racial Equity and Social Justice on Wednesday, June 26 in Germantown.
GERMANTOWN, MD — Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich and County Council President Nancy Navarro will host a Community Conversation on Racial Equity and Social Justice on Wednesday, June 26.
"The purpose of this discussion is to engage with residents on how county leaders can build a better and stronger Montgomery County that meets the needs of all residents through the creation of a new Racial Equity and Social Justice Policy," local officials said in a statement.
In the fall, Navarro is expected to introduce legislation for county government that is shaped by residents' feedback. A similar meeting was held on March 13 in Silver Spring. More than 300 residents participated in the conversation, according to officials.

"Community engagement is the most important factor to ultimately achieve the goals of the racial equity and social justice legislation that the Council will take up this fall."
The June 26 community conversation will be held at BlackRock Center for the Arts, located at 12901 Town Commons Dr. in Germantown.
