Robber Stabs Gas Station Employee on Video: Police

A Germantown Sunoco worker was stabbed during a robbery; police have released video of the scuffle in an effort to identify the attacker.

GERMANTOWN, MD — A $10,000 reward is being offered for tips that lead to the arrest of a man who allegedly stabbed a Germantown gas station worker, an act caught on video and released Wednesday by Montgomery County Police.

The Sunoco gas station at 18001 Mateny Road was robbed about 9 p.m. on Aug. 15. The 58-year-old clerk called 911 to report the robbery; he suffered from a knife wound to his torso and a slash wound to his face. The employee was taken to the hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives say the suspect entered the gas station and asked for cigarettes, presumably to cause the employee to turn his back to him. The man then vaulted the counter, took out a knife, and demanded money.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 20s. In the store surveillance video he is wearing a hoodie that obscures his face from view.
