Some Walmart Stores No Longer Open 24 Hours

The Germantown Walmart is among dozens of stores making schedule change.

Several Walmart stores are reducing their hours this week, including the one in Germantown.

These Maryland stores will no longer be open 24 hours, Walmart spokesman Brian Nick told Patch:

Nationwide, Walmart is rolling back round-the-clock operations at 40 stores.

In addition to Maryland, stores in the New Jersey and Philadelphia areas are making the move away from being open 24 hours, according to the Baltimore Business Journal.

The change was made on a store-by-store basis after the company reviewed patterns of its shoppers, Nick told Bloomberg.

Instead of being open round-the-clock, these stores will be open from 6 a.m. to midnight daily, according to Nick.

While they are closed between midnight and 6 a.m., employees can restock shelves, The Daily Journal reported.

Walmart tested the schedule change in more than 20 locations in the west during the spring, Nick said in an email to Patch. He told The Daily Journal: ”We would expect more stores to do this.”
