Tip Leads to Grocery Store Robbery Suspect's Arrest
Montgomery County Police have charged a Germantown man with robbing a customer at knifepoint in the Shoppers parking lot.

GERMANTOWN, MD — A tip from the public led police to charge a Germantown man with robbing a grocery store customer at knifepoint.
Montgomery County Police said Tuesday that detectives have arrested Timothy Charles Washington, 36, of the 13000 block of Open Hearth Way in Germantown, for the Jan. 3 robbery of a man in the parking lot of Shoppers grocery store, 18066 Mateny Road.
Washington allegedly walked up to the victim in the store parking lot, showed the man a knife, and took an undisclosed amount of money from the victim.

The next day, detectives released photographs of the suspect and asked for the public’s help in identifying him. Detectives received a tip, which led to the identification of Washington as the suspect. Investigators arrested him near his home on Jan. 7.
Washington was charged with one count of robbery, one count of first-degree assault, and one count of theft less than $1,000. He is being held on a $75,000 bond.
