What's Open, Closed For July 4, 2022, In Germantown
Patch has the scoop on July 4 holiday library hours, trash pick-up schedule adjustments, public transportation delays and office closures.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — With the Fourth of July falling on a Monday, government offices will be closed and some services will be altered in observance of Independence Day.
The Montgomery County government and programs will observe schedule and program changes to observe Independence Day Monday.
- County offices will be closed.
- State offices and courts will be closed.
- State Motor Vehicle Administration offices and Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program stations will be closed.
- All library branches will be closed.
- County-operated COVID-19 vaccination and testing clinics will be closed.
- Ride On will operate on a Saturday schedule Monday. Ride On extRa and Flex will not be in service.
- Flash will operate on a weekend schedule (orange line only).
- MARC train and commuter bus service will not offer rail service on the Camden or Brunswick Lines while the Penn Line will operate on a Sunday schedule.
- TRiPS Silver Spring commuter store will be closed.
- TRiPS Mobile Commuter Store will be closed.
- Metrorail will operate on a Sunday schedule Monday. Metrorail will open at 8 a.m. and close at 11 p.m. Trains will run every 12 minutes on the Red Line and every 15 minutes on all other lines until 8 p.m., then every 15 minutes on the Red Line and every 20 minutes on all other lines until closing.
- Metrobus will operate on a Sunday service schedule Sunday and Monday, July 4.
- Parking at public garages, lots, curbside meters will be free.
- County-provided trash and recycling collections will not be made Monday. Collections will slide one day during the week, with the last pickup on Saturday.
- Shady Grove Transfer Station and Recycling Center will be closed.
- County outdoor aquatic facilities will be open 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 3-6 p.m. Indoor aquatic facilities will close at 6 p.m., except for the Germantown Indoor Swim Center, which will close at 3 p.m.
- Community recreation and senior centers will be closed.
In Gaithersburg, city offices and most facilities will be closed with the exception of the following:

- The miniature golf course will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- The water park will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for city of Gaithersburg residents and aquatics members only.
- The free interactive water feature at Olde Towne Plaza and the Community Museum will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Gaithersburg Police Department Administrative Offices will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- The mayor and city council Meeting will be held Tuesday.
The collection of recycled materials for residents whose regular recycling day is Monday will take place on the preceding Saturday, July 2. This includes newspaper, mixed paper, corrugated cardboard and commingled materials, as well as brush, branches, grass clippings, leaves and other yard trimmings, picked up by the city’s recycling contractor.
On-demand bulk pick up for residents whose regular recycling day is Monday will be unavailable.

In Germantown, government offices will be closed along with the following:
- Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station and the recycling center will be closed for the holiday.
- There will be no trash or recycling picked up Monday and schedules will slide one day.
