3 Officers Assaulted By Intoxicated Glen Burnie Driver: Police
A Glen Burnie man suspected of being "extremely impaired" kicked one officer, head-butted another, and spit on a third officer.
GLEN BURNIE, MD — A Glen Burnie man faces charges after he assaulted three police officers Sunday shortly after 1 a.m. A police officer saw Walter G. Reyes-Chagon, 32, of 7800 Keenan Road, driving erratically northbound along Ritchie Highway. Reyes-Chagon's vehicle jumped the median near 2nd Avenue and stopped in the southbound lanes.
When officers spoke with Reyes-Chagon, he became uncooperative and, according to the police department, displayed "signs of extreme impairment." While officers attempted to put Reyes-Chagon in the cop car, he kicked one of the officers, head-butted another officer and spit on a third officer.
According to a police report, in an attempt to restrain the suspect, officers utilized a “WRAP” safe-restraint system to immobilize the suspect, which is designed to reduce the possibility of injury.
