GLEN BURNIE, MD — An Aberdeen driver suffered life-threatening injuries, while drivers from Baltimore and Perryville, were also hurt in a Glen Burnie crash Friday morning. According to Anne Arundel County Police, a speeding driver was likely to blame for losing control and causing the three-car pileup.
The crash was reported shortly after 8 a.m. on Arundel Expressway (MD-10) southbound near Baltimore Annapolis Blvd (MD-648) in Marley. Investigators say a 2004 Jeep Patriot driven by Frances Antonia Atkinson, 23, of Baltimore, was northbound on MD-10. As the road curved to the right, the Jeep left the travel lanes, crossed the grass median, and struck a southbound 2007 Ford Mustang driven by Paul A. Logan, 48, of the 800 block of Aiken Avenue in Perryville. A southbound 2014 Honda Accord driven by John S. Landbeck III, 49, of the 200 block of Mount Royal Avenue in Aberdeen, then struck the rear of the Jeep, went off the road, and struck a tree.
Atkinson and Logan were taken by ambulance to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with serious injuries. Police say Landbeck was also taken to Shock Trauma with critical, possible life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary cause of the crash was Atkinson's failure to remain right of center, police say. Contributing factors appear to be speed greater than was safe for the rainy conditions. It does not appear that drugs or alcohol are contributing factors.
Any decision on charges will be made after a review by the state’s attorney.
