The department said officers were called to Ritchie Highway and Ninth Avenue just before 5:30 a.m. for a crash involving a 2025 Kawasaki EX500 and a 2013 Honda Pilot.

Preliminary findings indicate the crash happened when the 41-year-old driver of the Honda Pilot was traveling south on Ritchie Highway and attempting to make a U-turn at Ninth Avenue, according to police.

Police said the Kawasaki, also traveling south on Ritchie Highway, struck the Honda from the rear.

Officials said the motorcyclist was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. Neither the driver nor the passengers of the SUV were injured.

A crash investigation is ongoing.
