Anne Arundel Co. Adjusts Empire Towers Safety Perimeter

GLEN BURNIE, MD — New roadway adjustments are being implemented near the Empire Towers building in Glen Burnie to ease the strain on nearby businesses.

Officials announced Wednesday that the new changes mean the 150-foot safety perimeter around the 10-story building will decrease by about 8 feet.

Moving forward, the county is permitting public access via Crain Highway at 514 Crain Highway North into 512 and 514 Crain Highway North

"This detour will provide employees and customers a safe route to access the businesses in these buildings," reads a release. "These businesses are all located outside the safety perimeter and are safe to visit."

The safety perimeter was established after the office building's structural integrity became compromised during unpermitted parking garage work.

To date, officials have said no injuries were reported in relation to the building.
