GLEN BURNIE, MD — A man waiting in the drive-thru lane of a Taco Bell was carjacked Wednesday morning in Glen Burnie, police said.
The Anne Arundel County Police Department said Thursday that the incident occurred at the Taco Bell on the 6600 block of Ritchie Highway.
Officers were called to the area just after 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
At the scene, officers learned that a man and his ex-girlfriend were dropped off at Taco Bell, and that he began acting erratically soon afterwards.
Within moments of being dropped off, the man walked over to the drive-thru lane and forcibly removed the driver from his 2009 Toyota Corolla.
Police said that the carjacked man and a witness who attempted to intervene both suffered minor injuries when the car was reversed out of the drive-thru lane.
The driver of the stolen vehicle was hospitalized for his injuries.
A search for the carjacker has proved unsuccessful, although authorities did recover the vehicle on North Kenwood Drive in Baltimore.
An investigation into the case remains ongoing.
