Body camera footage shows Severn carjacking suspect driving toward officers before police shooting (wmar2news.com) — Police say a May 7 incident that began with a crash at Crain Highway and 11th Avenue in Glen Burnie escalated into a carjacking and police shooting involving an Anne Arundel officer. Newly released body camera footage shows the suspect allegedly driving toward officers, injuring one before being shot and later arrested after additional crashes nearby.
2. Glen Burnie Man Ignores Superstition to Win $100K on Scratch-off (mdlottery.com) — A Glen Burnie resident just claimed a $100,000 Maryland Lottery prize from a King of Diamonds scratch-off bought at Aquahart Liquors on Aquahart Road. The longtime player broke his usual ticket-number superstition, plans to pay bills and take a vacation, and the Glen Burnie retailer will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
3. Turner Station Girl Scouts visit Key Bridge wreckage (thebanner.com) — Travel between Dundalk and Glen Burnie is still tougher more than two years after the Key Bridge collapse, with some parents even changing jobs because they can't easily reach workplaces in Glen Burnie and Linthicum. A Turner Station Girl Scout troop recently boated out to the wreckage with Pleasant Yacht Club captains, turning a lesson in maritime history and Black boating heritage into an unforgettable summer experience.
4. 'Annapolis Songwriters Festival' Returns This Month (whatsupmag.com) — Glen Burnie music fans are just a short drive from the Annapolis Songwriters Festival, returning September 10–13 with national acts and free showcases across downtown venues. With Rams Head Dockside in Glen Burnie part of the presenting group, locals can expect a packed schedule of intimate songwriter rounds, big outdoor shows, and walkable performances that turn Annapolis into a live-music playground.
