Anne Arundel County couple donates $500K to expand McDaniel scholarships for Glen Burnie grads (wmar2news.com) β Glen Burnie High School students now have access to significantly larger McDaniel College scholarships, thanks to a $500,000 gift from an Anne Arundel County couple. The expanded Mildred R. Popham Scholarship can provide up to four Glen Burnie seniors with $40,000 per year toward majors like nursing, education, criminal justice, psychology, and social work, greatly easing college costs for local families.

At Least 11 Outback Steakhouse Restaurants Close in 2026 Amid Turnaround (ntd.com) β Outback Steakhouse is closing its longtime Canton location in Baltimore on Oct. 11 and steering diners to nearby restaurants in Glen Burnie and Perry Hall. The chain has shut at least 11 U.S. locations this year as parent company Bloomin' Brands reshapes its portfolio, though more than 20 Outbacks remain open across Maryland.
