The funding will support enforcement, education, better data systems, and protections for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers, all tied to Maryland's Vision Zero goal of eliminating roadway deaths and serious injuries by 2030.
2. Duct-Taped American Airlines Passenger Breaks Silence (dailyvoice.com) — A man who was famously duct-taped to his seat on an American Airlines flight is now facing trial in Anne Arundel County District Court in Glen Burnie, where he says he remembers nothing of the incident. Released on his own recognizance with orders to avoid alcohol and non-prescribed drugs, he's due back in the Glen Burnie courthouse on Oct. 19.
3. 2026 National Awards Honor Anne Arundel for Excellence in Wastewater Treatment Operations (thebaynet.com) — Anne Arundel County officials in Glen Burnie are celebrating national awards for several local water reclamation facilities that have maintained perfect environmental compliance for years. Leaders say the recognition reflects behind-the-scenes work that keeps wastewater treatment safe, protects local waterways, and strengthens the county's infrastructure and resilience for communities including Glen Burnie residents.
4. At Least 11 Outback Steakhouse Restaurants Close in 2026 Amid Turnaround (ntd.com) — Outback Steakhouse is closing its long-running Canton location in Baltimore on Oct. 11, and customers are being pointed to the Glen Burnie restaurant as an alternative. The chain has shut at least 11 U.S. locations this year while its parent company reshapes operations, but more than 20 Outbacks, including Glen Burnie, remain open across Maryland.
