MD Teenagers Sentenced For Fatal 2025 Glen Burnie Shooting

GLEN BURNIE, MD — Two teenagers were sentenced Monday for the May 2025 fatal shooting of 18-year-old Jonathan Benjamin Guiliani in Glen Burnie.

The Office of the State's Attorney for Anne Arundel County said in a release that 18-year-olds Mekhi Andrew Duncan, of Baltimore, and Mactouko Junior Ryan, of Elkridge, were sentenced to life in prison with all but 35 years and 25 years suspended, respectively.

The sentencing comes after both teenagers pleaded guilty to first-degree murder.

A third individual was charged in the case but was adjudicated as a juvenile.

State's Attorney Anne Colt Leitess said the "sentencings demonstrate justice and accountability for an absolutely senseless crime that took the life of a beloved high school senior."

"The Court's sentences reflect both the gravity of their actions and their youthful ages," Leitess said. "This case is a tragedy, and Jonathan's family has endured pain that no family should have to suffer."

What Happened To Guiliani?

Guiliani was fatally shot May 4, 2025, when he was confronted by a group of armed, masked individuals while walking along the Baltimore & Annapolis Trail.

Police were alerted to the shooting just before 5 p.m. and responded to the 800 block of Aquahart Road in Glen Burnie. Guiliani was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

An individual who was with Guiliani during the deadly altercation told investigators that multiple masked persons exited a white sedan, announced the robbery and proceeded to point a handgun at their heads, the release states.

The would-be robbers were said to have handguns that were fitted with laser light beams.

"The victim said Guiliani grabbed this suspect's handgun and struggled with him over the weapon," reads the release. "During the struggle, the handgun fired, striking Guiliani and killing him."

How Were Duncan & Ryan Tied To The Scene?

The individual who was walking with Guiliani subsequently ran from the scene as the masked persons fired toward him. He told police, according to the release, that he "could hear the bullets passing him as he ran for his life and escaped."

A separate witness told investigators they heard multiple gunshots in the area and saw a person running and later collapsing in a grassy area near the Crazy Crab restaurant.

At about the same time, the white sedan was seen driven away from the scene and running a red light at the intersection of Aquahart and Greenway roads. The car was ultimately found in Baltimore City after being set on fire.

Searches conducted in the area returned 17 9mm cartridge cases, a laser light handgun attachment, and a wallet that contained a driver's license and a mix of cards.

Authorities were able to trace Duncan, Ryan and the unidentified juvenile to the case through cellphone records that mapped the trio not only to the crime scene, but also to where the stolen white sedan was located.

Officials said in the release that DNA samples were also linked to Ryan, and that a search at Duncan's home returned handgun magazines, a 9mm ammunition cartridge, camouflage clothing, masks, and a glass breaker intended for cars.
