Annapolis Crime Report: Arrest Made in Shooting of Two Men

The police department says an argument escalated when a Glen Burnie man shot two Annapolis men.

A Glen Burnie man who reportedly shot and wounded two Annapolis men during an argument faces attempted murder charges.

Detectives from the Annapolis Police Department on Wednesday arrested Ronnie Downs, 22, of Glen Burnie for the shooting that occurred July 11 in the 1300 block of Tyler Avenue.

Reginald Butler, 25, and Reno Green, 24, both of Annapolis, suffered from gunshot wounds. The men were in a vehicle when they argued with Downs.

Police say Downs shot at the vehicle, hitting Butler and Green. The vehicle then crashed into a tree. Green was shot in the arm and was injured when the vehicle struck the tree. Butler was shot multiple times.

Both victims were treated at Baltimore Shock Trauma.

Detectives identified Downs as the shooting suspect and a warrant was obtained. He was charged with two counts of attempted first- and second-degree murder and first- and second-degree assault, as well as one count of handgun on person and use of firearm in a felony or violent crime.

Police say Downs was sought on an earlier warrant for second-degree assault and false imprisonment tied to an Aug. 29 incident.

Downs is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center without bond on the shooting charges and on $25,000 bond on the assault charges.
