Apartment Fire Displaces 23 In Glen Burnie: Official

The three-story garden-style apartment building sustained $180,000 in damage from the fire.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — A fire broke out at Glen Mar Apartments Jan. 1 shortly after 7 p.m., displacing 23 occupants from 11 apartments. The three-story garden-style apartment building sustained $180,000 in damage from the fire. Approximately 45 firefighters took an hour to control the fire, which originated in one apartment and damaged two others.

Ten people escaped to their apartment balconies and required rescuing. Six patients ranging in age from 31 to 66 were taken to UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center with minor injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation by members of the Anne Arundel County Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit.
