GLEN BURNIE, MD — Police said they heard word Wednesday of a pedestrian shot after an attempted robbery along a Glen Burnie street.

Officers responded to the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center around 3:40 a.m. for the injured man. The 39-year-old was walking on Mayo Road near Old Stage Road when an unknown male approached in a gray sedan. Police said the suspect demanded the victim's property, but the pedestrian refused.

Officers accused the suspect of leaving the car and firing several gunshots at the victim, one of which hit him in the lower torso. The suspect fled, and the victim flagged down a ride to the hospital.
