UPDATE: Barricaded Glen Burnie Suspect Shoots Himself: Police

A man in Glen Burnie has reportedly shot himself after he was barricaded in an apartment, say Anne Arundel County Police.

UPDATED at 7:30 p.m. GLEN BURNIE, MD — An armed man who was barricaded in a Glen Burnie apartment has shot himself, according to Anne Arundel County Police. The man was taken to Shock Trauma Medical Center; there is no word on his condition.

The standoff in the 300 block of Old Stage Road ended about 6:40 p.m. police said, with no other injuries reported.

Shortly before 6 p.m. police said that negotiations with the suspect continued. Authorities have not yet said why they were called to the apartment, who the armed man is, or if charges are pending.

Old Stage is closed to traffic between Quarterfield Road and William Street. Police ask drivers to use alternate routes to get through the area. School buses used alternate routes to get students home Tuesday afternoon.

WBFF TV reports that a man with a "long gun" is in an apartment in the area of Old Stage Road and Mayo Road.
