BLOG: The Tyranny of the Majority
"The growing tyranny of the majority will someday overthrow the rights of the American people under the flag of good will."

The Constitution of the United States, in my opinion, is the most important document that has been written in the last 200+ years. It is the foundation of our great countries democracy. I believe, and will stand behind, the Constitution and the amendments put forth after its writing. In no way would I say that it has no flaws, after all God makes all people equal but our Constitution has not always recognized all people as equals.
"The growing tyranny of the majority will someday overthrow the rights of the American people under the flag of good will."
Yes, that is exactly what I said but many of you might not understand exactly what I mean. I am not talking about a monarch shouting "off with his head" but rather I am talking about the Majority shouting "off with his head." Here in the United States the Majority rules, but, what if the Majority is wrong? Certainly we have a judicial system that can assist in separating the right from the wrong but in some cases that could take years.

Just because the Majority:
- feels that guns should not be carried concealed does that mean that thought process is right?
- says that abortion is ok does that make it right?
- wants universal healthcare does that make it right?
- thinks that the Constitution states that we have a separation of church and state does that make it right?
- want women to have the right to vote does that make it right?
- thinks that English should not be the official language of the United States does not make it right?
In some cases the answer above is clearly "YES," in others you might say "MAYBE," and for a few you might say "NO." Either way, the Majority makes that decision and that is the one that everyone must live with unless you can prove that it violates our Constitution.

In the United States we do not have a "King," however, I believe that our modern government has formed itself into an almost monarch type rule. We indeed have created a "Collective King" through our voting habits. When Congress can give themselves a pay raise, have as many sick days as they want at work and have 60+ paid holidays in a year, have tax payers pay for transportation to and from work and even cover meals, food and lodging does that not sound like a King to you?
More than 300 million Americans being led by a government that includes 435 Representatives, 100 Senators, 9 Supreme Court Justices, 1 Vice President and 1 President. 546 people alone are deciding the direction of our country and only one of those positions has a term limit. Now remember, we Americans voted this Collective King into power and we continue to do so every single election cycle. Look at what these Collective Kings in our own State are trying to do to us.
So who are the knights or nobles in America today? Big business fills that role very well. The poor and middle class have become servants to today's nobles. From companies like American Express and VISA that feed on people making poor financial choices to the large oil companies that create artificial bubbles that Wall Street brokers use to buy and sell those commodities without ever having the intention of receiving those commodities.
Open your eyes America and see the corruption. Now that Glee, The Bachelor and Big Bang Theory have had season finales, it's time for us to look at the bigger picture. If we are not careful that tyranny of the Majority will be the downfall of this great nation. This November don't simply vote for someone because they've been in that position for years or that you despise the other political party. Vote because you have educated yourself on the PROs and CONs of every person running for office. Vote because you have researched their record and see if that person can even associate themselves with the type of life you live. You might actually realize that having the same old person in the same old office is simply re-enforcing the collective King we have created.
May God bless America.
