You Want Me To WHAT? Exercise!

"Physically Fit Docs More Likely to Prescribe Exercise." I guess we all should practice what we preach! Especially if it helps patients.

A study that was published last week by the American Heart Association found “Physically Fit Docs More Likely to Prescribe Exercise.”  When it is indicated, isn’t it supposed to be prescribed?  Shouldn’t all doctors do that?

I guess it all comes down to setting a good example and the old phrase “Practice What You Preach.” I have to tell you that it is absolutely true. Exercise should be a part of any treatment plan when indicated. Then, depending on the condition, it is choosing the right exercise. The right amount of exercise. What are the progressions? What are the areas of caution?

Years of practice with patients in the office and the athletes we work with from various teams taught us it is not only what you do for the patient in the office, but what they do on their own to help themselves; and in most cases, exercise is one of the answers!
