About Jes Burke: I’ve never been a fan of vague messages. For 15
years I devoted myself to figure art, and a few years ago learned to
apply my skills to the style of Magic Realism (Think Baroque with
dragons).
I was mired in the idea that every piece of art must have a clear
story or message, and success could only be measured by an audience
absorbing that message.

That isn’t to say I wasn’t willing to try new things. On the
contrary, I’ve always been, and will likely always be, an avid explorer
of the creative arts.
My first correction came from my first show, at the Metropolitan in
Annapolis, a few years back. I noticed that, although I agonized over my
messages, and they were half-the-time received as intended, the other
half of my viewers saw something completely different in my images. And
what’s more, I enjoyed it!
