Cyclist Dies After Glen Burnie Crash: Police

A cyclist died after a Glen Burnie crash, police said. A car hit the cyclist as he turned into traffic.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — A cyclist died recently after a car hit him in Glen Burnie, county police said. Authorities identified the victim as 61-year-old Thomas Eric Siebert of Baltimore.

An officer said she found the cyclist lying in the roadway while driving Friday around 6:20 p.m. The officer and bystanders performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

A press release said medics could not revive the cyclist and pronounced him dead on the scene.

The cyclist was riding on the southbound shoulder of Maryland Route 10 toward E. Furnace Branch Road at the time of the crash. He suddenly turned left and rode directly into the path of a 2016 Hyundai Sonata, police said. The other driver was not hurt, and she stayed on the scene.

The Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
