Here are the top stories in Glen Burnie today:
- A boating accident in West River near Shady Side, Maryland claimed a life. The accident happened Saturday around 6:30 p.m. when the small boat struck a piling. All persons on board were rescued, but one man who was later found deceased. (WTOP)
- Eligible families in Maryland could get an extra "Universal Basic Income" of $500 monthly. If this passes, then 100 families could get this extra UBI. The details are still being worked out, but it would be similar to how Stockton, CA ran their UBI. (Finger Lakes 1)
- A risk was taken and paid off in a big way! An Annapolis man decided to pay $30 for a scratch off and WON! He won the big prize of $100,000! (The Bay Net)
- Department of Natural Resources has plans to restore the Brook Trout in Anne Arundel County. The Maryland Department of the Environment has given its approval to restore a tributary stream of the Severn River. The tributary being restored is the Jabez Branch, which is a cold running branch that can support this type of trout. (The Bay Net)

- Today is "Drive In Movie Day" and "D-Day Invasion Anniversary". Drive in movies bring back so many memories for me! The D-Day invasion brings up a lot of memories too...a very important day in history. (Holidays and Observations)
- Drive in Theaters were such a treat back in the day. The only one around this are is Bengies in Dundalk. But, Glen Burnie had it's very own drive in! Right on Ritchie Highway and Ordinance Road/Furnace Branch Road. It opened in 1939 and closed in 1983. (Cinema Treasures)
- The first man to storm the beaches of Normandy has Maryland roots, Linthicum to be exact! Captain Leonard "Max" Schroeder was shot twice and received the Silver Star for his effort. He passed at the age of 90. Click to read more of his story. (Task and Purpose)
