Here are the top stories in Glen Burnie today:

  1. Reece Road and Jacobs Road was the scene of a shooting this past Saturday, July 9. Two men were shot and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No word on what caused the shooting to occur. Anyone with any information are encouraged to call the police. (News Break)

From my notebook:

  • Today is "Slurpee Day/7-11 Birthday" and "National Cheer Up The Lonely Day". I can't speak for everyone, but slurpees always make me happy. If you could share one with someone else I would imagine that would make others happy too! (Holidays and Observations)
  • Today you can get a free slurpee in honor of 7-11's birthday. Originally, the store was only open from 7 a.m. - 11 p.m., which is how it got it's name. Luckily, Maryland has quite a few store locations to pick from. Sadly, 14 states in the United States do not have a store to get their free slurpee! (7-11)
  • Quite a few things happened on this day in history. in 1864 "Confederate forces led by General Jubal Early begin invasion of Washington, D.C. with the Battle of Fort Stevens." And in 1968 Earl Weaver becomes the manager for the Baltimore Orioles. (On This Day)
