A Glen Burnie driver died after he lost control of his car, which flipped onto a car carrying a woman and her 1-year-old, police say.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — A Glen Burnie driver died after he lost control of his car, which flipped onto a car carrying a woman and her 1-year-old, police say. The fatal crash happened about 11:45 a.m. Saturday on MD 100 East at Quarterfield Road, according to Anne Arundel County Police.

Paul Pinkston, 36, of the 7800 block of Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie, lost control of his 2017 Honda Civic on MD 100 East. The Civic hit a guardrail, crossed back into the traffic lanes and then flipped onto an eastbound Toyota Scion, Anne Arundel County Police say.

Pinkston was pronounced dead at the scene and was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for autopsy. Diana Ventura, 22, of Lanham, the Honda driver, and her child were taken to an area hospital. Police say Ventura suffered minor injuries and the child was not hurt.

The preliminary cause of the crash appears to be Pinkston's failture to remain in a single lane, officials said in a news release. Speed does appear to have contributed to the crash. The case will be reviewed by the state's attorney.
