Driver Trapped When 2 Pickups Collide On I-97: Fire Officials
A rear-end collision between two pickup trucks in the Glen Burnie area sent two people to area hospitals, fire officials said.
GLEN BURNIE, MD — A rear-end collision between two pickup trucks in the Glen Burnie area sent two people to area hospitals on Dec. 7, Anne Arundel County Fire Department officials said. One driver reportedly in the striking vehicle was trapped in her truck following the crash on southbound I-97 near Wellham Avenue.
Firefighters arrived to find a two-vehicle, rear-end style collision. The striking truck sustained significant front-end damage and the 34-year-old female driver was trapped. Firefighters extricated her in about 25 minutes and she was taken to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center with injuries that were serious, but not believed to be life-threatening, authorities said.
Her 34-year-old male passenger was taken by paramedics to Baltimore Washington Medical Center with minor injuries. The driver of the second vehicle did not have injuries requiring a trip to the hospital.
