Here are the top stories today in Glen Burnie:

  1. After four felony drug convictions, three of these involving a firearm, Purnell Summerville is going to pay for his crimes. Summerville has been sentenced to 25 years of active incarceration. (Anne Arundel County)
  2. Joseph Brocki, 43, of Hanover has been arrested. On July 12 at about 1:45 p.m., police witnessed Brocki in a domestic assault at the Cromwell Shopping Center. The police followed and tried to stop him when Brocki put his car into reverse and hit the police car, authorities reported. (wmar2news.com)
  3. A variety of altercations have been happening in the Glen Burnie area lately. One of these happened on July 12 at 6:15 p.m. when a person was intentionally hit with a car. The victim was trying to take a photo of a shoplifter from Dollar General in Glen Burnie when the suspect hit them with their car. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.   4. A security guard was carjacked at Westfield Annapolis mall on July 13 at about 4:30 a.m. The suspect is a 35-year-old woman who fled the scene. The police caught up to her on 7th Avenue in Glen Burnie. After a short foot pursuit, the suspect was arrested. The guard had non-life-threatening injuries. (wmar2news.com)
  5. A 23-year-old Maryland man survived a fall into an active volcano in an attempt to take a "selfie" at Mount Vesuvius, Italy, when he dropped his phone. He refused medical treatment for his scrapes and bruises. The last eruption happened in 1944, but this is still considered an "active" volcano. (News Break)
