Elkridge Man Arrested In Glen Burnie Shooting: Police Report

Richard Clarence Ramsay III, 24, died at the scene after being shot. Another man was taken to the hospital with injuries.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — The Anne Arundel County Police Department has made an arrest in a Feb. 22 shooting that occurred in the 200 block of Poplar Avenue. Officers found two shooting victims, including 24-year-old Richard Clarence Ramsay III who died at the scene. A 26-year-old man was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

After interviewing witnesses and investigating the case, officers arrested 22-year-old Alkein Alphozo Coates of the 5600 block of Furnace Avenue in Elkridge. According to a police report, evidence indicated that Coates was involved in an illegal drug transaction at the scene. Coates and another male suspect pulled out a handgun and shot Ramsay and the other man, the report indicated.
