If a student falls behind in 2nd grade reading it only gets harder to catch up. The students' must be able to perform at grade level by the 3rd grade when they must rely on basic math and literacy skills in an expanding range of classes and coursework, without which they will fall behind their classmates.
For a variety of reasons, many of our students are at risk in this way. To help bridge the achievement gap BWI Rotary is targeting our local North Anne Arundel area elementary schools to distribute iPads to their reading intervention programs.
