UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center will be offering Safe Sitter® on Monday, August 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for pre-teens ages 11-13 in the medical center’s 3 South Classroom located near the Mother-Baby Unit on the third floor of the medical center .
Safe Sitter® teaches adolescent babysitters how to nurture and guide young children while in their care. Participants will gain confidence with babysitting skills and abilities in caring for young children in emergency and non-emergency situations. During this one-day class, participants will learn about child care essentials, choking child/infant rescue, preventing problem behavior, introduction to first aid and injury management. The fee for the program is $50. Interested participants should pre-register online at mybwmc.org. Visa, MasterCard and Discover are accepted. Class size is limited to 12 and pre-registration is required. Participants should plan to bring a bag lunch.
