Fatal Shooting In Glen Burnie Claims 27-Year-Old Man, Detectives Seek Tips: Police

A man died after he was shot Wednesday in Glen Burnie, police said. Officers identified the victim, but they are looking for the suspect.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — A man died after he was shot Wednesday in Glen Burnie, county police said.

Officers identified the victim as 27-year-old Matthew Anthony Ponder of Glen Burnie.

Authorities heard about the shooting in the 400 block of M Street North East around 2:30 a.m. Police said they found the victim inside a home suffering from gunshot wounds.

First responders could not save the victim and they pronounced him dead on the scene, a press release said.

Officers said they searched the area for evidence and witnesses, but they did not find a suspect.

Authorities believe this was a targeted shooting, not a random act of violence. Investigators do not think there are any ongoing threats to the public.

Homicide detectives are still investigating.
