Fire Causes $15K Damage To Glen Burnie Home

A basement light fixture sparked the fire that broke out in a bedroom. Firefighters took 10 minutes to extinguish the fire.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — A two-story single-family home in Glen Burnie sustained $15,000 in damage shortly before 7:30 p.m. Thursday. The occupant of the home called 911 to report a fire in the bedroom at the home, located at 98 Packard Ave. Almost 30 firefighters from two departments arrived on the scene. It took less than 10 minutes to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters first on the scene found smoke and fire coming out of a bedroom window on the back of the home. They were able to contain the fire to the room where it broke out. Members of the Anne Arundel County Fire and Explosives Investigation determined that the fire was accidental, sparked by a basement light fixture. The Red Cross is assisting the one adult occupant who has been displaced.
