Four Injured In Glen Burnie Car Crashes: Police

The Anne Arundel County Police Department believes alcohol, drugs and vehicle speed contributed to multiple crashes caused by one driver.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — The Anne Arundel County Police Department suspects that speed, drugs and alcohol played a role in a car crash in Glen Burnie. The incident occurred Feb. 16 shortly before midnight and resulted in two people sustaining life-threatening injuries. An officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a Volkswagen Beetle on Hidden Brook Drive driven by 22-year-old Jahaid Haneef Thomas of Pasadena.

Thomas refused to stop and continued down Old Stage Road. The officer did not pursue Thomas, but he crashed his vehicle near Baylor Road after crossing the center line. Thomas hit a Mazda Miata parked on the street then hit a Nissan Altima parked in a driveway and hit a Ford van parked on the street.

Thomas and his passenger Dion Ison Sanders, 21, of Glen Burnie, both sustained life-threatening injuries. Two other passengers, Lara Marie Garalde, 19, of Glen Burnie and Maia Leilani Ventura, 19, of Severn, sustained serious injuries. All four were taken to the hospital.
