Glen Burnie Building Catches On Fire: Officials

The vacant two-story building at 5805 Ritchie Highway had a fire in the basement, officials say.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — A vacant two-story building located at 5805 Ritchie Highway caught fire Saturday shortly after noon. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Almost 50 firefighters responded to the blaze, which took 40 minutes to put out. The Anne Arundel County Fire Department believes it originated in the basement.

Several passersby called 911 and reported smoke coming out of the building, which most recently housed Cycle World. The fire was contained to the basement, but all levels of the building endured smoke damage, according to a report from the fire department.
