Glen Burnie House Fire Causes $17K In Damage: Officials

A house fire in Glen Burnie caused about $17k worth of damage. The cause, officials say, is under investigation.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — Fire officials are trying to figure out what caused a Glen Burnie home to catch on fire.

The Anne Arundel County Fire Department says a neighbor called 911 shortly before 3:30 p.m. Sunday after seeing smoke coming from the back of the home. About 35 firefighters responded to 1703 Pleasantville Dr. and were able to extinguish most of the fire in less than 10 minutes.

No one was injured in the blaze, which officials say started in the basement. There were two smoke alarms in the one-story house. They, however, weren't functioning at the time of the fire.
