Glen Burnie Man Killed In Motorcycle Accident
The motorcycle operator was not wearing a DOT-approved helmet and sustained life-threatening injuries after veering across three lanes.
GLEN BURNIE, MD – A 50-year-old Glen Burnie resident was killed after sustaining injuries suffered in a motorcycle crash on Arundel Expressway (MD-10) northbound at East Furnace Branch Rd. June 2. The motorcycle was in the right exit lane for East Furnace Branch Road when, according to a police report, it veered left across all three lanes of northbound traffic before striking an oncoming Jeep. Both vehicles came to rest in the roadway.
The operator of the motorcycle, Jack Vance, was wearing a non-DOT approved helmet that broke, the Anne Arundel County Police Department report said. Vance was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The occupants of the Jeep were uninjured. The primary cause of the crash was determined to be that the motorcycle operator made an unsafe lane change, the police report indicated. The traffic safety section will be investigating the incident.
