Glen Burnie Man Wins $50,000 With Scratch-off Ticket

A Glen Burnie man bought a winning scratch-off ticket in his hometown and ended up netting $50,000.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — While waiting in line to check out with his bags of ice at Chesapeake Liquors in Glen Burnie, a man watched the customer in front of him purchase several of the Maryland Lottery's Ravens scratch-offs. So when it was his turn to pay for his ice, he added three Gold Rush X100 scratch-offs to his order.

The 57-year-old Glen Burnie man headed home and forgot about his tickets until the next day. As he was scratching the $20 tickets, he originally thought he had won $500 and couldn't believe his luck. But then he read the instructions and discovered his prize actually was $50,000. He shared the good news with his wife and headed to Lottery headquarters the following Monday with his signed ticket to pick up his bounty.

He shared with the Maryland Lottery that the winnings will be used to help fund part of his daughter's wedding and to pay for an upcoming family vacation.
