Glen Burnie Woman Dies After Car Overturns In Arnold: Police

Police said a Glen Burnie driver died after her car overturned in Arnold. Officers released the name of the victim.

ARNOLD, MD — Police announced that a Glen Burnie woman died after her car overturned last Thursday in Arnold. Officers identified the victim as 19-year-old Erika Gabriella Chavez Savio.

The accident happened around 2:45 p.m. in the 1500 block of northbound Ritchie Highway. A 2007 Honda Accord was heading north on the highway and nearing Arnold Road when the driver swerved into a neighboring lane to avoid another vehicle.

The driver overcorrected her steering, flipping the sedan and ejecting her from the car. The Anne Arundel County Fire Department took the victim to an unnamed hospital where she later died, an incident report said.

Officials think the cause of the crash is the driver's failure to stay in one lane. The Anne Arundel County Police Department is still investigating.
