Here are the top stories today in Glen Burnie:

  1. Carr's Beach or affectionately called "The Beach" has been approved for $5.2 million to preserve the historical beach. Sadly, this was one of few beaches, that during the 1940's through 1960's, that African Americans could visit. It played host to many top African American musical talent during that time frame.   2. $2.16 Billion has been proposed for fiscal school year 2023. This would cover pay increases for school employees, new school construction and infrastructure. "We must send a signal to our educators that we value their work," Pittman said about the pay increase. (WTOP)
  3. An HBO series will be debuting the Baltimore "GTTF: Gun Trace Task Force". The news about 13 corrupt cops was brought to light back in 2017. Some of the former officers have been released, a few are still in jail. $13 million in settlements has been spent trying to rectify what was brought about by these officers illegal activity.   4. Brooklyn is seeing an increase in homicides this year. A total of 9 homicides since the beginning of the year, which is the amount they had in the whole year of 2021. Four homicides just in the last 2 weeks. The residents are scared and concerned. (Newsbreak)

  • It's getting warmer out and who doesn't like watching planes? Even if you are a long time resident or new to the area, Friendship Park is a fun place to go. Plenty of parking, a wide open field, play ground and walking trail make this a nice local get away to watch the planes at take off from BWI airport. (Chesapeake Family)
