Horse Sense Helps Glen Burnie Man Win $21K

A Maryland Lottery player from Glen Burnie who won over $21K says the timing of the prize couldn't have been any better.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — A marine mechanic from Glen Burnie found that keeping vessels seaworthy isn’t all that floats his boat. The pursuit of his second passion – playing the Maryland Lottery’s Racetrax game – paid off, according to a news release.

The 66-year-old jockeyed his second big Racetrax win by picking a Superfecta Box combination worth $21,523.20. The winner told Maryland Lottery officials he developed a “horse sense” for his winning bet after watching a series of races. On his 13th race, the 3, 10, 11, 12 combination of horses crossed the finish line, turning his wager into the big prize.

This isn’t the virtual handicapper’s first brush with Racetrax excitement. The Anne Arundel County man won a sizable prize on a Trifecta combination just a few years ago.
