Husband Guilty Of Choking Wife In Glen Burnie Assault

A Glen Burnie man has been convicted of multiple abuse charges after he choked and threw her cell phone during the attack, prosecutors say.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — A Glen Burnie man has been convicted of multiple abuse charges after he choked and threw her cell phone during the attack, prosecutors say. Selvin Federico Reyes, 33, of Glen Burnie was found guilty Friday of first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and theft by Anne Arundel County Circuit Court Judge Cathleen M. Vitale.

"Mr. Reyes's brutal attack was a deeply traumatic experience for both his wife and her children," said Anne Arundel County State's Attorney Wes Adams in a statement. "I urge victims of domestic violence to seek refuge in law enforcement. We are prepared to fight for your right to a safe home."

During an argument with his wife on Sept. 1, 2016, Reyes became violent and strangled the victim until she was on the brink of losing consciousness. He only released his wife when her son entered the room and began screaming for Reyes to stop, prosecutors said.
