At the age of 20, Tyler Bartram has been described as an “excellent up-and-coming modern jazz player”. His approach to the guitar is unique, including a wide range of influences from John Coltrane and Wes Montgomery to Jimi Hendrix and Jeff Beck.
Bartram was given his first guitar at the age of 12, and immediately started performing with rock and pop groups in the Maryland area. At his young age, he has led many ensembles and groups, including a small jazz ensemble at Howard Community College and his high school choir band and pit band during his time there. His musical studies have involved great teachers, including Scott Goriup and Baltimore local Carl Filipiak; both of whom Bartram was able to perform with many times. He received a scholarship to the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland, where he currently studies with jazz guitar legend Paul Bollenback.
