Kiddos Receive New Basketball Hoop Courtesy Of Police Officers

After standing with their arms in a circle to pretend to be a basketball hoop, Anne Arundel County officers bought the kiddos a new hoop.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — While patrolling in the area of the 7600 block of McNamara Drive in Glen Burnie, two Anne Arundel County police officers spied a couple of kids playing basketball. It was a heartwarming scene, especially since kids were cooped up for so long due to the coronavirus pandemic.

But one thing the officers noted is that the kids didn't have a basketball hoop and there is no park nearby with a basketball court. So Officers Bayton, Schnell and PFC Neall hopped out of their patrol car and stood there, circling their arms to mimic a basketball hoop, the police department shared.

Seeing how excited the kids were, the officers were inspired to go and pick up a new portable basketball hoop just for the kiddos in the community. The Anne Arundel County fire department even helped install it by filling the base with water so it wouldn't wiggle around.
