Kitchen Fire Displaces Glen Burnie Apartment Residents
The smoke was so heavy on both floors that residents were rescued through their windows by firefighters on ladders.
GLEN BURNIE, MD — Late Thursday night a fire broke out in a two-story apartment building located at 7849 Crilley Road. Five residents were taken to the hospital to be checked out. Thirty-eight firefighters were on the scene and had the fire under control in approximately 30 minutes.
According to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, the fire started on the stove in a first-floor apartment. Second-floor residents who called 911 told dispatchers they could not evacuate due to heavy smoke. Firefighters used ladders to rescue those on the second floor who had gathered in the windows. The Red Cross is providing assistance to the residents of all eight apartments who now are displaced.
