- A portion of the light rail will be down for scheduled maintenance. The maintenance will start Sunday, April 17 at 7 p.m. through Sunday, May 15. The stops that will be affected are Camden through Glen Burnie/BWI. Free buses will be available for transportation. (wmar2news.com)
- The Dell Scholars Program awarded scholarships to three Anne Arundel County Public School students. The recipients of the award received $20,000 scholarships, a laptop computer and printer. This program, started in 2004, focuses on students who are in the "academic middle" by looking at a student's determination not just test scores. (Press Release Desk)
- Hankering for a slice of pizza? Look no further than Champs restaurant... though you may have to look hard because it's hidden in a strip mall on Furnace Branch Road. Come in for their huge pizza or any of their other tasty menu items. (Only In Your State)
- Parents sue school, asking $4 million, after they believe their child was wrongly suspended. The student was accused of wearing "black face" though the teen claims it was gold paint, the same gold paint that was worn during a pep rally several days earlier. She was ultimately suspended and sent to a Bias Behavior Program. Her parents feel the First Amendment rights were violated since it happened outside of school. (Parent Herald)
- Here is an update from the Office of Community Engagement and Constituent Services (CECS). Several of County Executive Pittman's priorities were approved by the County Council this past Monday. They are: Green Infrastructure Master Plan was approved; same sex spouses of public safety workers can amend their pension selection to include their spouses; reclassifying of 911 operator and first responders and parking garage construction to start near the MARC station.
