Happy Helpers for the Homeless, Saturdays and Sundays
This nonprofit organization provides food, toiletries and clothing to the hungry and homeless. Volunteers can be as young as 6 can help distribute items and bag lunches in Baltimore and Glen Burnie on Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

If you can’t volunteer but would like to help the cause, the organization is always in need of donations -- men’s socks, toiletry items, men’s clothing, blankets, shoes in good condition, juice boxes, lunch meat, etc.
Here are some special, upcoming events the organization will need volunteers for:

Bag a Breakfast Project. This is an ongoing event. Put together a breakfast for someone who’s homeless. Items to include are: a box of cereal with a spoon and cup, poptart, fruit, hot chocolate package with cup and spoon, juice box and a napkin. Bagged breakfasts can be dropped off at Happy Helpers.
Annual Back-to-School Distribution to Guatemalan Children. Volunteers are needed Saturday, Aug. 9 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to help distribute clothing, groceries and school supplies for Guatemalan children in need in Marydel.
5th Annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser. Volunteers are needed for the dinner at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 308 Oak Manor Drive, Glen Burnie on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County
This organization reaches more than 2,800 youth ages 5 to 18. Volunteers are needed as tutors, mentors, assistants in computer labs, arts & crafts program leaders, sports coaches and to help with administration in the office. The organizations also need extra volunteers for a Basketball, Flag Football & Cheerleading Camp from Aug. 11 to 15 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.at the Boys & Girls Club at Bates in Annapolis.

Magothy River Association
The Magothy River Association, partnered with “Marylanders Grow Oysters” program, is recruiting oyster gardeners. This is a one year commitment, and all oysters grown will be placed on restored oyster reefs in the Magothy River next summer. For more information, visit the website.

This nonprofit organization helps disadvantaged men and women find employment by providing interview-appropriate attire at no cost. Volunteer consultants are needed to help find clothing for the inventory.
