Man Shot While Wrestling Gun Away From Assailant: Police

A 48-year-old man told police he was shot in Glen Burnie while grabbing a gun away from a suspect who had ordered him out of his vehicle.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — Anne Arundel County police officers are seeking two men suspected of shooting a 48-year-old man after ordering him out of his vehicle and into another one near Crain Court and Crain Highway Nov. 12. The shooting occurred at approximately 2:45 p.m.

The man told police he was sitting in his vehicle when two men approached him. One man pulled out a gun and demanded the driver exit his vehicle. He then was forced into a minivan by both suspects, according to a police report. The two vehicles were driven by the suspects approximately one-fourth of a mile at the time when the victim tried to gain control of the handgun and wrestle it away from the suspect. The suspect fired the gun, striking the man in the upper half of his body. The suspects took off and left the man behind in the vehicle where police found him and administered first aid until rescue workers arrived.

Police believe this was a targeted incident. The suspects are described as wearing a yellow/orange work vest and dark clothing at the time of the attack. Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at 410-222-4720 or the TipLine at 410-222-4700.
