Authorities said a 2018 Ford F-150 pickup truck and an unknown vehicle slowed to a stop to block traffic in both lanes.

Police said the front-seat passenger of the unknown vehicle left the vehicle to help the driver of the Honda Accord, which was the first to crash.

Authorities said the same Honda Civic continued west and then struck the Honda Accord.

That Honda Civic also hit the pedestrian who was standing outside the Honda Accord and helping its driver, police said.

Officers said the driver of the Honda Accord was pronounced dead on the scene.

Authorities said Anne Arundel County Fire Department paramedics took the driver of the Toyota Corolla, the pedestrian and the driver of the Honda Civic to the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie. They all suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the Ford F-150 was not hurt.
